A Fundraiser for Second Chances

A Night to Celebrate Growth and New Beginnings

The Ben D. Johnson Educational Center invites you to join us for I Tried, our fourth annual community fundraiser. On Tuesday, August 26th, we will gather in the heart of Natchitoches at Riverside Reserve to celebrate the boldness it takes to try again — and the power of community to meet that courage with opportunity.

At BDJ, we believe that trying is the first step to thriving. I Tried honors that belief by uplifting the voices of our graduates, recognizing the partners who make our work possible, and raising critical funds to continue removing barriers for young adults in our community.

Since opening our doors, the Ben D. Johnson Educational Center has served individuals who are out of school and ready to change the direction of their lives. Through our Legacy Workforce Development Program, we provide not just training and certifications — but meals, transportation, mentorship, job placement, and the kind of support that lasts well beyond graduation.

This year, I Tried represents more than a fundraiser. It is the beginning of a new chapter for BDJ — one grounded in sustainability, clarity, and visibility.

What To Expect This Year

The I Tried experience will feature:

  • A celebration of BDJ graduates and alumni

  • Powerful stories from students and community champions

  • A silent auction

  • Music, libations, and good company with a shared purpose

  • Recognition of employer partners and honorees

  • A special invitation to join our monthly donor circle — BDJ GEMS
